May 2001-Albanian Business Reform Advocacy
Project, where the PPFI has been involved in the topic of trade
facilitation through harmonization of trade rules and procedures
at regional and international level. The project has been sponsored
by Soros Foundation in Tirana, implemented by Albanian American
Trade Association. The conclusions of project were provided on May
2001, and the PPFI has been involved in about one month, right after
its establishment.
May 2002 – Preparation
of a Citizen’s Guide to the Budget. This was a six months
project financed by CIDA/ Canadian International Development Agency
aiming to increase the transparency of budget process. The guide
was published by the end of year and it is available on both Albanian
and English languages at the web page of PPFI. Full

July 2003 -“Citizens and
the Budget” this is an open-ended project that was launched
by PPFI on 20th of June 2003 to the donor’s community representative
at PPFI’s office. One component was provided by DANIDA on
July 7th, 2003 for additional printing copies of Guide for the Albanian
Parliament, 6 Albanian Universities and 36 Chambers of Commerce.
This is 3 months project, that has been finished by end of September
2003.
October 2003 - “Development
trends of private health sector in Albania, its effectiveness and
efficiency”. This project was prepared in frame of National
Program of Research and Development. It will be extended in a period
of 8 months and it will aim to cover most parts of Albania. In frame
of this project will be organized comparative researches of other
countries experiences in this field, interviews with private health
activities in some cities of the country, roundtables and other
activities. The study will include recommendations to further improvement
of the climate for development of the health private sector as well
as its interrelations with the public sector. The final report will
be published.
December 2003 – “Strengthening
public-private partnership on budget revenues”. This is a
six months projects, funded by small grants for democracy, USIS.
It aims to increase transparency and make the budget process more
open to business community. Through this project PPFI intends to
create the basis for institutionalizing the partnership between
public administration and business organisations. This project will
focus on the fiscal package of annual budget 2005. The meetings/round-tables
will be facilitated by the PPFI experts of public finance and taxation.
